North Coast Beginning Teacher Program

PEER COACHING

This session provides experienced educators with the skills necessary to work as coaches for beginning teachers or other colleagues. The workshop provides strategies that are research-based and have proven to be effective for adult learners. Some of these strategies include reflective conversations, use of evidence in observation, supporting rather than evaluating, classroom observation techniques, communication skills, and trust-building. Participants practice using the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) as a basis for observation feedback to improve student achievement and instructional strategies.

This is a required training for all NCBTP support providers and potential support providers.
