North Coast Beginning Teacher Program
A quality support system for all beginning teachers and
a caring, competent and highly qualified teacher for every child.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Welcome to the North Coast Beginning Teacher Program! The North Coast Beginning Teacher Program (NCBTP) is a regional consortium comprised of multiple county offices of education, universities, and over 100 school districts, charter schools, and private schools throughout Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Marin,
Mendocino, Napa, Nevada, Solano and Sonoma Counties.

The NCBTP provides support to new and aspiring teachers across our service area. The program administers state-approved and state-funded Paraprofessional, Intern, BTSA Induction, Designated Subjects and Education Specialist Credential Programs.
The NCBTP provides new and aspiring teachers with high quality extended preparation and professional development that enables them to meet the academic learning needs of students. Well-trained Support Providers guide and support new teachers in their induction into the profession while setting the stage for a lifelong cycle of continuous improvement. There is an ongoing focus on student achievement, and cohort seminar meetings provide opportunities for new and aspiring teachers to build strong professional relationships.
At the heart of the program are Support Providers and new and aspiring teachers. The administrative structure of the program includes the Regional Director, Administrative Assistant and support staff housed in the regional office, Sonoma County Office of Education. Each county has a County Coordinator who manages the day-to-day operations of his or her respective county. Each partnering district selects a District Coordinator who manages the day-to-day operations of his or her district. The Regional Advisory Board, comprised of representatives from district leadership, County Offices of Education and University partners, provides guidance, support, advice, and oversight to the regional consortium.
