North Coast Beginning Teacher Program

ELIGIBILITY
There are many types of credentials in California and the North Coast Beginning Teacher Program works with aspiring and new teachers in the following credential areas:

Multiple, Single, and Education Specialist Intern Credentials

Adult Education Preliminary Credentials
Eligibility varies so it is important to check with your local County Coordinator or the Regional Office if you have questions about eligibility. The following are general guidelines. You can also visit this website to gather more details about each program.

Paraprofessionals are employed in a partner school or district and are working towards obtaining their California Teaching Credential. Eligibility for the program is determined by the employing school district in collaboration with the Paraprofessional Teacher Training Program Coordinator, Carol Lingman. Visit the Paraprofessional section of this website to obtain additional information.
Interns are teachers who are employed and are enrolled in a University Credential Program to obtain a Preliminary Teaching Credential. They have a Bachelor’s Degree, have passed CBEST, have met subject matter competency (CSET), and have met the 120 hours of pre-service required by their university.
First and second year Multiple Subject or Single Subject Preliminary Credential holders (including teachers prepared out of state) are eligible to complete a BTSA (Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment) Induction Program to obtain a California Clear Credential.
Preliminary Education Specialist Credential holders are eligible to participate in a CCTC approved BTSA Induction Program to obtain their California Clear Credential.
Teachers who hold a Preliminary Career Technical Ed or Adult Ed Credentials and are seeking to obtain a Level 1 and Clear Credential are eligible to participate in the NCBTP two-year approved program to meet all of their credential requirements.
