North Coast Beginning Teacher Program

DISTRICT COORDINATORS

2011-2012 District Coordinator meetings:

Humboldt County: HCOE 1:30pm-3pm: November 15, 2011 and May 1, 2012
Lake County: LCOE 3pm-5pm: September 7, 2011, April 19, 2012
Mendocino: MCOE 5pm-7pm: September 27, 2011, March 13, 2012
Nevada: TBD
Sonoma: SCOE 4pm-6pm: October 27, 2011, May 8, 2012

The role of the District Coordinator is critical to the success of the NCBTP and the partnership with schools and districts.  The District Coordinator provides ongoing support to all new teachers, support providers, and aspiring teachers.  The NCBTP truly appreciates all that you do!

The following provides an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the District Coordinator:

Credential and Program Compliance:

  • Work with district personnel to facilitate the identification of eligible participating teachers to ensure proper placement and enrollment in appropriate credential program (e.g. Intern, Multiple and Single Subject Credential Induction, Out of State, Education Specialist, and/or Designated Subjects.)
  • At the point of hire inform all eligible teachers of their credential responsibilities, program requirements, and expectations and inform new teachers of enrollment requirements through program website: (www.ncbtp.org).
  • Work with the district to emphasize the selection of high quality support providers and work with the County Coordinator when mismatches occur. Inform support providers of enrollment requirements through the program website: (www.ncbtp.org).  Maintain current support provider applications in your files.
  • Assist the County Coordinator in monitoring new teachers’ and support providers’ participation and completion of program requirements.

Communication & Coordination:

  • Communicate regularly with the NCBTP County Coordinator, attend 2 meetings per year, and collect and submit all required forms and documents.
  • Coordinate the district calendar, dates, and special events with NCBTP meetings and events.
  • Share district information and resources with all new teachers.
  • Collaborate with district staff to align district professional development with the NCBTP professional development activities.
